Odoo Interfaces

An interface (API) is the connection between two software systems that enables data exchange. It is used in Odoo when information needs to be passed from the ERP to external software or vice versa. The assessment of requirements during each Odoo implementation makes the need visible - and ultimately leads to the appropriate selection and integration of a ready-made interface or the tailored adjustment or creation.

Existing Odoo interfaces

DATEV interface

DATEV is the financial accounting software used by all tax advisors - and therefore this interface is one of the most important requirements for any Odoo implementation. Advantage of the interface: Tax advisors can obtain all relevant information directly from the Odoo accounting. There are already ready-made DATEV interfaces that can be purchased from the Odoo Community for a fee.

Outlook interface

Like the connection of Google Gmail & the calendar to Odoo, the connection to Microsoft Outlook is also available in the Odoo standard. No adjustments are needed here, as this interface also receives an update with each new Odoo version. Companies only need to enter the necessary Microsoft Outlook codes in Odoo and both systems will be automatically synchronised.

Google Gmail & Calendar

The connection to Google Gmail & Google Calendar is already available in the Odoo standard via connector. No adjustments are needed here, as this extension also receives an update with each new Odoo version. Companies only need to enter the necessary Google codes in Odoo and both systems will be automatically connected.

Amazon interface

The Amazon interface used to cost around 45 euros per month (in addition to the licensing costs per user) and was provided directly by Odoo. Since September 2022, it has been integrated into the user costs, just like all other Odoo standard apps.

Ebay interface

The eBay interface is also provided by Odoo and can be customised to meet the requirements of each customer. As with the Amazon interface, additional costs were previously incurred here, but these have been eliminated since the price restructuring in autumn 2022.

Weclapp Connector

We at bloopark have created our own Weclapp Connector, which establishes the connection between both software systems. The primary aim was to support companies transitioning to Odoo in the migration of their master data. This includes synchronising standard and custom fields and the synchronisation of resources such as items, item categories, UoM, etc.

Customising

Before creating new interfaces, it must be checked whether solutions are already available. This usually happens during the requirements assessment (before a project) or when integrating new processes & software within an ongoing project. It is also decided here whether an existing solution will be customised or if a new API will be created. What is the difference?

1. Customising Interfaces

Customising interfaces is generally cheaper than creating a new API - although the creation of a new one often has its advantages. A customisation usually involves migrating to the latest Odoo version and adding additional information & fields that need to be transferred.

2. Custom Interfaces

The creation of a new interface is necessary when no ready-made solutions are available or they do not meet the requirements.
